LIGHT HOUSE : SHIPWRECK MEMORIAL

When asked to design a memorial , many times a designers approach is to freeze a tragedy in time. Where in reality tragedy is something people look to move forward from. This projects aim was to initiate the idea of moving on

A shipwreck which occurred off the coast of Tuscany , in Italy was the site of this project. An approach to create a monumental light house which interacts with its shore as a clock was applied to this project. Seeking inspiration from sun dials , an otherwise old method of telling time had been turned into a poetic approach of leaving grief behind.

ARC ASIA : YOUTH CENTER DESIGN

The youth are entitled to freedom; freedom  to create express and interact. This project aimed to allow exactly that. Asia being one of the most diverse regions in the world , brings forth a sense of variety and a sense of unity.

Through similar regional characteristics an identity can be formed. Trade and growth are the two ideologies which the region abides by. According to this , shipping containers and bamboo were the materials chosen for this project.

By stacking containers and replacing the walls with interactive bamboo elements a playground for youthful creativity was formed. Allowing the youth freedom to create , interact and manipulate their surroundings through the use of play; an Asia inspired youth center was created.

BANG BUA : SLUM REJUVENATION

Every country has areas which are neglected by the government yet occupied by its citizens. Within those areas hidden urban treasures can be found. Spaces which people walk by can be turned into places that people walk to.

This project is located in the slums of Bangkok , Thailand , in a district known as Bang Bua. An existing canal cut off from its mainstream was the site chosen for this project. Simple elements such as wood pallets and plastic barrels found in Bang Bua markets were combined to create floating platforms. These platforms served multiple functions at different times to all types of users within the community.
